Bone and joint tests in Raipur
Osteoporosis weakens bones and makes them break more easily, often without any warning until a fracture happens. Low vitamin D can cause bone pain, muscle weakness and soft bones, and a high level of uric acid is linked to gout, which causes sudden, severe pain in a joint, often the big toe.
You are more likely to have low vitamin D if you spend little time outdoors, wear clothing that covers most of your skin, have dark skin (including South Asian backgrounds), or have kidney or liver disease. Blood tests for vitamin D, calcium and uric acid help your doctor look into bone and joint problems.

- Low vitamin D: bone pain, muscle weakness or aches, soft or deformed bones, fractures
- More likely with little time outdoors, clothing that covers most of the skin, dark skin (including South Asian backgrounds), poor absorption of food, or kidney or liver disease

- Osteoporosis usually causes no pain until a bone breaks
Common questions
Do I need to prepare for a vitamin D test?
No special preparation is needed, but tell the lab about any supplements you take.
Does a calcium blood test show bone strength?
No. A bone density (DEXA) scan does.
Does a high uric acid mean I have gout?
Not necessarily. Your doctor decides.
When to get help straight away
Sudden worsening joint pain and swelling with a high temperature, shivering or feeling sick could be a joint infection and needs urgent care. A broken bone from a minor fall also needs medical assessment. Call 112 or 108 if severe.
