A nasogastric tube is a thin, soft, flexible tube that a doctor or nurse gently passes through the nose, down the throat, and into the stomach. It is used for two main purposes: Feeding – to give liquid food, water, or medicines directly into the stomach when a patient cannot eat or swallow normally. Drainage/Suction – to remove air, fluid, or stomach contents when the stomach needs to be emptied (for example, before surgery or in case of blockage/vomiting). The tube stays in place with a small piece of tape on the nose and cheek, and its outer end can be connected to a feeding syringe/bag or a suction machine. Placing it can feel a little uncomfortable for a few seconds, but it is not usually painful. Once positioned correctly, most patients get used to it quickly. हिंदी: नेज़ोगैस्ट्रिक (NG) ट्यूब एक पतली, मुलायम और लचीली नली होती है, जिसे डॉक्टर या नर्स धीरे-धीरे नाक के रास्ते, गले से होते हुए पेट तक पहुँचाते हैं। इसका उपयोग मुख्यतः दो कामों के लिए किया जाता है: खाना/तरल पदार्थ देने के लिए – जब मरीज़ खुद से खाना या निगलना नहीं कर पाता, तब इस ट्यूब से सीधे पेट में तरल भोजन, पानी या दवाइयाँ दी जाती हैं। पेट खाली करने के लिए (सक्शन) – जब पेट में हवा, तरल पदार्थ या अन्य चीज़ें निकालनी हों (जैसे ऑपरेशन से पहले या उल्टी/रुकावट की स्थिति में)। ट्यूब को नाक और गाल पर टेप से चिपका कर स्थिर रखा जाता है, और इसके बाहरी सिरे को सिरिंज, फीडिंग बैग या सक्शन मशीन से जोड़ा जा सकता है। इसे डालते समय कुछ सेकंड के लिए थोड़ी असहजता महसूस हो सकती है, लेकिन आमतौर पर यह दर्दनाक नहीं होता। सही जगह पर लगने के बाद अधिकतर मरीज़ जल्दी ही इसके आदी हो जाते हैं।
